Overview: The Alaska Comprehensive Forensic Training Academy (ACFTA) promotes forensic training for nurses and health care providers to build the capacity for communities to respond to all types of violence. It is a first-in-the-nation program that seeks to transform how patients are assessed by providers for the potential impacts of violence in their lives. ACFTA is a partnership between the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (CDVSA), the UAA College of Health, and the Alaska Nurses Association (AaNA)

Project Goal: The project goal was to craft a brand image and collateral for the program while building program awareness in Alaska.

Constraints/Challenges: The funding for the program came from a CDVSA grant with a limited budget for material creation, advertising, and public relations.

The Solution: I relied heavily on earned and social media to promote the project to potential program attendees by focusing on statewide media programs while simultaneously promoting the program through targeted professional health care workforce events.

The brand vision and package were created by working with graphic designer Monica Sterchi-Lowman at UAA. We negotiated a fee structure that allowed me to maximize design participation by minimizing editing rounds. Together, we were able to refine several brand mark iterations quickly within the budget.
