Project goal: The video was part of the awards ceremony for the Robert O. Anderson Award the Red Dog Mine received from the Institute of the North.

Constraints/Challenges: The main challenge consisted of finding a novel way to convey the Red Dog Mine story, demonstrating how NANA shareholders balance mining and living a subsistence lifestyle. Coordinating dash-cam, helicopter, and crane footage at an active operation came with many hurdles as well. However, the footage garnered was worth the effort.

Solution:  After generating the creative brief for the project, I worked with David Gilbert Productions to capture interviews and unique video footage of mining operations that articulated the challenge of working at an open pit operation north of the Arctic Circle. By marrying the narratives of shareholders with the drama of unique camera angles, we created a cohesive storyline that was authentic in its perspective and visually stunning.
